Samsung unveils Galaxy Watch 8 series and a fresh look for the Galaxy Watch Ultra

Samsung’s recent Galaxy Unpacked event wasn’t all just about foldable devices. The tech giant also unveiled two new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

The Galaxy Watch 8 is Samsung’s thinnest watch yet, measuring just 6.8mm thick — a dramatic reduction from the Watch 7’s 9.7mm thickness. It comes in two distinct sizes: 40mm and 44mm. The 40mm version features a 325mAh battery, while the 44mm version boasts a 435mAh battery. It comes in two colors, graphite and silver.

Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, which features a 46mm form factor and a rotating bezel, with a 445mAh battery. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic comes in black and white color options.

Samsung also announced a new color variant for the Galaxy Watch Ultra at Unpacked, called titanium blue, which features 64GB of expanded storage. The Galaxy Watch Ultra was initially launched last year, available in titanium gray, white, and silver colors with 32GB of storage.

The Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and the titanium blue Galaxy Watch 8 Ultra all launch with One UI 8 right out of the box. Samsung’s new software update promises several new health features, including an antioxidant index feature that allows you to measure your carotenoid levels “for healthy aging.” There is also Bedtime Guidance, which offers tailored sleep recommendations, and Vascular Load, which measures the stress levels on your vascular system while you sleep. The Galaxy Watch 8 starts at $350 for the 40mm Bluetooth model, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic begins at $500 for its Bluetooth version. LTE options are available for both models. The Galaxy Watch Ultra in titanium blue starts at $650. You can pre-order the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra in titanium blue on Samsung’s website now and receive a $50 discount. The Galaxy Watch 8 series is set to start shipping on July 25.
